The canopy is dominated byCoastal Blackbutt (Eucalyptus pilularis). A range of other canopy species may be present in moderate abundanceincluding Tallowwood (Eucalyptus microcorys), Brush Box (Lophostemon confertus), Turpentine (Syncarpiaglomulifera) and Flooded Gum (Eucalyptus grandis). The mid-stratum is strongly dominated by Bangalow Palm(Archontophoenix cunninghamiana), Forest Oak (Allocasuarina torulosa), Black Wattle (Callicoma serratifolia), ForestMaple (Cryptocarya rigida), Prickly Tree-Fern (Cyathea leichhardtiana), Soft Corkwood (Caldcluvia paniculosa), TreeHeath (Trochocarpa laurina) and Rose Myrtle (Archirhodomyrtus beckleri). Vines include False Sarsaparilla (Smilaxglyciphylla) and Small-leaved Supplejack (Ripogonum fawcettianum). The ground layer is sparse with Gristle Fern(Blechnum cartilagineum), Pastel Flower (Pseuderanthemum variabile) and Palm Lily (Cordyline stricta).This community is widespread in sheltered aspects on gullies, often in the mid to upper slopes. The communityoccurs from very wet areas on very steep hills of the Orara Escarpment to the steep hills and rolling low hills of theCoast Range. It is found between about 100 metres to almost 500 metres above sea level on the Orara Escarpmentrim. The geology comprises both sedimentary and metasedimentary geology north from near Crossmaglen inTuckers Nob State Forest to Conglomerate State Forest near upper Corindi.<strong>Vegetation</strong> Mapping of the <strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong> Local Government Area Page 81
