Using PC Cards<br />
Your computer includes a PC card slot. PC cards allow you to connect<br />
portable external devices, such as a CD-ROM drive, additional memory,<br />
or to connect to a network.<br />
✍ The PC card slot can accommodate one Type II PC card. This slot is compatible with Card<br />
Bus and ZV (Zoomed Video) port.<br />
Some PC cards may require that you disable idle devices when using the PC card. You can<br />
use <strong>Sony</strong> Notebook Setup to disable devices. See “Displaying the <strong>Sony</strong> Notebook Setup<br />
Screen” on page 53.<br />
Be sure to use the most recent software driver provided by the PC card manufacturer.<br />
If an “!” mark appears on the Device Manager tab in the System Pro<strong>per</strong>ties dialog, remove<br />
the software driver and then reinstall it.<br />
To insert a PC card .<br />
✍ You do not need to shut down the computer before inserting or removing a PC card.<br />
To insert the supplied PC card modem, refer to “Connecting a PC card modem” on<br />
page 34.<br />
1 Pull the PC card release button up away from the computer and push<br />
it in towards the computer.
