Sviluppi dell’alimentazione esotermica
nei getti di alluminio. Tipologie di maniche
e vantaggi
In entrambi i
casi vengono utilizzati leganti organici o inorganici.
Queste polveri (come,
ad esempio, la FEEDOL) iniziano una reazione
esotermica quando entrano in contatto con alluminio
liquido e forniscono la loro energia attivandosi
sulla superficie della materozza per
rallentare la solidificazione aggiungendo extra
energia al serbatoio di metallo liquido nella
manica per estendere la capacità di alimentazione.
Anche questa tecnica è una pratica
comune.
Exothermic feeding
developments in
aluminium castings.
Sleeve types and
advantages
In aluminium foundries, the use of insulating
sleeves in a wide variety of materials has been
common practice for many years now. Foseco
is the first to introduce a new exothermic sleeve
material for non-ferrous alloys and casting
applications. Called FEEDEX NF1, this new
recipe has been developed specifically for the
aluminium sector and adapted to existing requirements.
The exothermic reaction is quickly
triggered yet happens slowly and steadily, ensuring
a significant improvement in feed. This
results in low emissions. FEEDEX NF1 feeders
are available in many different versions and
eliminate the need to add exothermic powders.
The use of insulating feeders is a common
practice in aluminium foundries. In this sector,
there are several products with different
shapes on the market. In most cases, the materials
are made with fibres or spherical materials.
In both cases, organic or inorganic binders
are used.
If the insulating property is not sufficient or if
the sleeve size is limited, exothermic powders
are very often also applied and added. These
powders (such as, for example, FEEDOL) initiate
an exothermic reaction when they come
into contact with liquid aluminium and provide
their energy by activating on the surface of the
sprue to slow down solidification, adding extra
energy to the liquid metal reservoir in the
sleeve to extend feed capacity. This technique
is also a common practice.
