Abstract
With Lithuanian accession to NATO the defence policy aimed at organisation of the country’s military defence
and its Armed Forces as well as strengthening security-related programmes has been planned and developed
Anotacija
Lietuvai tapus NATO nare, gynybos politika, lemianti šalies karinės gynybos – ginkluotųjų pajėgų
organizavimą ir saugumo stiprinimo programas – planuojama ir kuriama pagal ES ir NATO Aljanso
reikalavimus. Kurdami bendrą NATO gynybos politiką, tampame atsakingi ne tik už Lietuvos gynybą,
bet ir už viso Aljanso stiprinimą. Todėl šiandien Lietuvos kariuomenė tampa viena moderniausiai
organizuojamų valstybės sričių, kurios svarbiausias įsipareigojimas – stiprinti karines pajėgas ir priimti
karinėms struktūroms kylančius transformacijos iššūkius. Karinių struktūrų transformacija ir
kariuomenės rengimas – nelengvi uždaviniai Lietuvos karininkijai. Todėl tinkamų kandidatų, stojančių į
Generolo Jono Žemaičio Lietuvos karo akademiją, atranka – svarbus šios karininkų ugdymo institucijos ir
visos Lietuvos kariuomenės reikalas. Tuo tikslu 2001 metais Generolo Jono Žemaičio Lietuvos karo
akademijoje įkurtas Kandidatų atrankos centras. Kuriant kandidatų atrankos sistemą, kūrybiškai
pasinaudota Didžiosios Britanijos Sandhursto karališkosios karo akademijos Westbury atrankos centro
patirtimi. Lietuvos karo akademijos atrankos centro devynerių metų veiklos rezultatai parodė, kad ši
atrankos sistema padeda kokybiškai atrinkti kariūnus.
PAGRINDINIAI ŽODŽIAI: karinė gynyba, kariniai mokymai, NATO aljansas, karinių struktūrų
transformacija, kandidatų į karines studijas atranka, Generolo Jono Žemaičio Lietuvos karo akademija.
Introduction
The Commissioned Officer Corps of the Republic of Lithuania make a nuclear of
the Lithuanian Armed Forces. They stand out as an important element of the National
Defence System, representing and forming the potential of the Armed Forces. Since
1994, the Lithuanian soldiers have been continuously trained to participate in the
peace-keeping missions in the Balkans; and today they contribute to the peacebuilding
missions in Afghanistan, where Lithuania has led a Provincial Reconstruction
Team in Ghor Province. Therefore, today it is important that the commissioned
officers were not only competent in military subjects, sparkled leadership, practiced
human values, but also could comprehend in detail the national security problems and
