Predominantly
shaded trail on an exuberant forest with many bromeliads and
small creeks. It is a trail with steep sections in the forest on the Serra dos
Marreiros mountain range. It also passes on rocky slabs covered in bromeliads
and orchids on the Serra do Desengano mountain range. It offers beautiful
scenery. From the rocky slabs, you can see the Macapá Valley, Serra dos
Marreiros, Serra Pedra Marial, and Serra Itacolomi mountain ranges. At the
summit, there is a privileged view of Serra Morumbeca and Serra Grande
mountain ranges, the Paraiba do Sul Valley “sea of hills”, and, on clear days, all
the way to the coastland lowlands. It is also possible to observe very rare
species of flora and fauna, only found in this site. Hikers must be very careful
since these are true natural gardens made up of fungi, lichens, orchids,
bromeliads, among other sensitive species.
Begin to the right of the Morumbeca Inn cottage, along the barbed-wire fence
and close to the wooden gate on the road. This is a shaded trail that crosses four
creeks, the last with the greatest volume of water. It continues on the right
parallel to the river and sometimes crosses it. Then it rises abruptly to a ridge
covered with bromeliads and orchids to the base of the first slab.
From the flat slab, go up the rocky slab amid the grassland vegetation of the
Montane Shrublands, completely exposed and with beautiful scenery.
no cume.
Trail with difficult orientation, steep sections and forks, a short stretch on the
edge of a cliff, and high exposure to the sun in the parts outside the forest and on
the summit.
Sombra na maior parte do trajeto e água .
Shade during most of the trail and water.
Floresta exuberante, riachos, orquídeas, bromélias e paisagens.
Exuberant forest, creeks, orchids, bromeliads, and beautiful scenery.
