Goytacazes. Região de grandes cafezais, a Serra da Bela Joana, na extremidade
leste do parque, tem o seu nome associado a uma antiga fazenda de café, cuja
proprietária era de rara beleza. Há registro de coleta de exemplares da flora, pelo
botânico Joaquim Santos Lima, em 1934, na região do Alto Mocotó.
Traverse trail used by drovers for the coffee flow from the Mocotó region to the city
of São Fidelis. In São Fidelis, the coffee was transported on ferryboats on the
Paraiba do Sul River toward the village of Campos do Goytacazes. Serra da Bela
Joana mountain range, on the Eastern edge of the park, is a region with vast
coffee plantations. Its name is associated with an old coffee plantation landlady
named Joana, renowned for her beauty. There are records of flora samples
collection by botanist Joaquim Santos Lima, in 1934, in the region of the Upper
Mocotó.
