Um Natal para ficar na história - Casa Cool Beans

Próximo à Praça Tiradentes está o Real Gabinete Português de Leitura, que preserva um valioso
acervo da literatura lusitana, com cerca de 400 mil títulos. A construção revela ainda obras de arte,
moedas e medalhas portuguesas. Não é permitido tocar nos livros, mas um passeio entre as
elegantes estantes já é um deleite para os olhos. Joia da coroa, o Jardim Botânico foi criado por D.
João VI com o intuito de aclimatar suas plantas vindas das Ilhas Maurício. A coleção foi crescendo e
hoje são mais de oito mil espécies. Plantas em extinção e uma rica fauna, composta principalmente
por pássaros, são grandes atrações desta reserva.
Next to Praça Tiradentes is the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura, which preserves a valuable
collection of Lusitanian literature, with around 400 thousand titles. You’re not allowed to touch the
books, but a stroll amongst the elegant bookshelves is a treat for the eyes in itself. The Botanical
Garden was the jewel of the crown, created by D. João VI to acclimate the plants brought over from
Mauritius. Gradually, the collection grew and now boasts more than eight thousand species.
Endangered plants and a rich fauna composed mainly by birds are major attractions of this reserve.
