IBM Chief Scientist

Trade Fair, Mercopar will
include an innovationfocused
lecture. IBM
Brazil’s Chief Scientist and
research coordinator for
the company’s Brazilian
subsidiary, Fábio Gandour,
will discuss the theme
“Innovation, competition
and profitability: what does
one have to do with the
other?” The event will take
place on Monday (October
3) at 6pm.
According to Gandour,
an IBM employee for some
20 years, innovation is
now a popular word and
as such, forms part of the
agenda for all companies
seeking innovation to
increase competitiveness
and profitability. “But…..
have all these companies
found the best means of
innovating, being more
competitive and capitalizing
on innovation investments?”
he queries. The lecture aims
to clarify the relationship
between innovation,
competitiveness
and profitability in a
straightforward and
useful manner, based
on the knowledge of a
Brazilian with international
experience on the subject.
Fábio Gandour, who is
also a doctor, has been
working in the area since
the beginning of the
movement that triggered
this wave of innovation,
accumulating theoretical
knowledge and practical
experience on how to
promote innovation and
bridge the gap that leads to
profit. “This is the pathway
that will be showcased at
Mercopar”, adds Gandour.

by the Rio Grande do Sul
Support Service for Small
and Micro-Enterprises
(Sebrae/RS) and Hannover
Fairs Sulamerica, part
of Deutsche Messe AG.
