ENTREVISTA
mos. Não podemos nos comparar aos países industrializados
no que diz respeito a incentivos provenientes do
governo.
QUAL O PRINCIPAL DESAFIO PARA AS INDÚS-
TRIAS DE MÁQUINAS E EQUIPAMENTOS PARA MA-
DEIRA NO BRASIL?
mercado mundial. As empresas brasileiras enfrentam a
Além disso, o setor ainda enfrenta alguns desafios
(custo Brasil). Outro desafio é a instabilidade
econômica e política do país, que afeta diretamente a
indústria. A volatilidade cambial e a alta carga tributária
também afetam a competitividade das empresas brasileiras
no mercado global.
estabilizar as expectativas serão positivas.
nization of industries through credit lines, accelerated
depreciation, and subsidies in cases of equipment that
offer energy savings and 4.0 technology, making their
industries increasingly more competitive. The Custo Brasil
makes us less competitive with machine manufacturers
in other countries. In this scenario, our most significant
complaints are a lack of an accelerated depreciation
policy and credit lines for investments in machinery and
equipment.
WHAT IS THE MAIN CHALLENGE FOR BRAZIL’S
TIMBER MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT SECTOR?
One of the main challenges is competitiveness in the
world market. Brazilian companies face competition from
other countries, mainly those in Europe and Asia, with
established and consolidated machinery and equipment-producing
companies. In addition, the Sector still faces
some internal challenges, such as a lack of investment,
bureaucracy, and a lack of fiscal and financial incentives
for technological innovation (Custo Brasil). Another challenge
is the Country’s economic and political instability
directly affecting the Sector. Exchange rate volatility and
high tax burden also affect the competitiveness of Brazilian
companies in the global market.
AFTER TWO YEARS OF THE PANDEMIC, WHAT
ARE THE GROWTH PROSPECTS FOR THE TIMBER
MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT SECTOR IN 2023?
With the Covid-19 pandemic, the world turned to the
home environment. It has positively impacted some sectors,
including the timber machinery industry. However,
in this post-pandemic moment, with people returning to
travel, the war in Europe, the energy crisis, and inflation
in countries where the economy has always presented
stability, and with this new government, the insecurity in
making investments by companies has increased considerably.
Repeating the last two years’ results will be very
challenging for our Sector in this scenario.
WHAT IS THE EXPECTATION FOR INVESTMENT
IN THE AREA FOR THE COMING YEARS?
Abimaq is very active and participatory with the government,
regardless of what it may be. Therefore, if our
customers can access competitive credit lines and there
are policies to encourage industrial growth, and if the
economy stabilizes, expectations will be positive.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN ACTIONS OF THE FEDE-
RAL OR STATE GOVERNMENT TO FOSTER THE TIM-
BER MACHINERY SECTOR?
Today, only in some regions of the Country, such as in
the North, Northeast, and Midwest, are there tax incentive
programs and credit lines for companies. We look
forward to incentive policies for companies, such as accelerated
depreciation, tax cuts, and attractive credit lines.
