Parachute enthusiasts
meet with the sky at
Alatepe
In addition to domestic and foreign tourists, many
parachute pilots are coming for flight from many
countries of the world to Ölüdeniz neighborhood
in Fethiye district of Muğla, that is one of the
world's leading paragliding centers. In recent
years, the Alatepe flight area in Milas district
has become the center of interest of the visitors.
After a hike that is in touch with nature in the
neighborhood of Ören, sporters who paraglide
and adrenaline junkies reach Alatepe, which has
a 650 meters of height. After that, they can paraglide
with the great view of the Gulf of Gökova,
embracing the green and blue scenery.
District Governor ErenArslan said that the
paragliding competitions can be made in the
Alatepe flight area, which provides the opportunity to stay in the
air for a long time and offers the appropriate weather conditions
throughout the year. ErenArslan, who stated that the rock graves
and endemic plant species can be seen on the walking route of the
Alatepe jumping point, which can be reached from both asphalt
road and the walking track, said the followings:

“Alatepe track offers an alternative destination to parachutists who
want to jump after climbing training, adrenaline junkies, and nature
lovers. Alatepe, which also has transportation from the asphalt
road, impress people with its unique view after a joyous climb of
about 5 kilometers. Ören Neighborhood offers different possibilities
in terms of tourism. Local and foreign tourists can also enjoy
other activities such as swimming, diving and hiking. The rich local
cuisine of Ören, which consists of fresh seafood and foods cooked
with olive oil, offers special tastes with regards to gastronomic
tourism. Ören, which contains different tourism values, is drawing
attention from tourists during four seasons with this rich potential.”
‘Slow City’ Köyceğiz
At the International Cittaslow Coordination
Council Meeting held in Greve in
Chianti city of Italy, the memberships of
the districts of Köyceğiz and Ahlat were
accepted. First started at Italy in 1999,
''slow city'' movement has reached 17 settlements
in Turkey together with Köyceğiz
and Ahlat districts.

CITTASLOW NETWORK
Cittaslow, which consists of the words
''citta'' (city) in Italian and ''slow'' in English,
means ''slow city''. The Cittaslow network
is in service as an union of cities emerging
from the ''slow food'' movement in order to
prevent globalization from standardizing
and eliminating the local characteristics of
the city's residents and lifestyles.
