Parachute enthusiasts<br />

meet with the sky at<br />

Alatepe<br />

In addition to domestic and foreign tourists, many<br />

parachute pilots are coming for flight from many<br />

countries of the world to Ölüdeniz neighborhood<br />

in Fethiye district of Muğla, that is one of the<br />

world's leading paragliding centers. In recent<br />

years, the Alatepe flight area in Milas district<br />

has become the center of interest of the visitors.<br />

After a hike that is in touch with nature in the<br />

neighborhood of Ören, sporters who paraglide<br />

and adrenaline junkies reach Alatepe, which has<br />

a 650 meters of height. After that, they can paraglide<br />

with the great view of the Gulf of Gökova,<br />

embracing the green and blue scenery.<br />

District Governor ErenArslan said that the<br />

paragliding competitions can be made in the<br />

Alatepe flight area, which provides the opportunity to stay in the<br />

air for a long time and offers the appropriate weather conditions<br />

throughout the year. ErenArslan, who stated that the rock graves<br />

and endemic plant species can be seen on the walking route of the<br />

Alatepe jumping point, which can be reached from both asphalt<br />

road and the walking track, said the followings:<br />

“Alatepe track offers an alternative destination to parachutists who<br />

want to jump after climbing training, adrenaline junkies, and nature<br />

lovers. Alatepe, which also has transportation from the asphalt<br />

road, impress people with its unique view after a joyous climb of<br />

about 5 kilometers. Ören Neighborhood offers different possibilities<br />

in terms of tourism. Local and foreign tourists can also enjoy<br />

other activities such as swimming, diving and hiking. The rich local<br />

cuisine of Ören, which consists of fresh seafood and foods cooked<br />

with olive oil, offers special tastes with regards to gastronomic<br />

tourism. Ören, which contains different tourism values, is drawing<br />

attention from tourists during four seasons with this rich potential.”<br />

‘Slow City’ Köyceğiz<br />

At the International Cittaslow Coordination<br />

Council Meeting held in Greve in<br />

Chianti city of Italy, the memberships of<br />

the districts of Köyceğiz and Ahlat were<br />

accepted. First started at Italy in 1999,<br />

''slow city'' movement has reached 17 settlements<br />

in Turkey together with Köyceğiz<br />

and Ahlat districts.<br />

CITTASLOW NETWORK<br />

Cittaslow, which consists of the words<br />

''citta'' (city) in Italian and ''slow'' in English,<br />

means ''slow city''. The Cittaslow network<br />

is in service as an union of cities emerging<br />

from the ''slow food'' movement in order to<br />

prevent globalization from standardizing<br />

and eliminating the local characteristics of<br />

the city's residents and lifestyles.<br />
