Future trends in design:
digitalization and sustainability
At the Decor & Design Conference organized by
Hannover Fairs Turkey as part of the Connection Days
platform, the trends of the future in the field of architecture,
decoration and design were discussed. While
digitalization also shows itself in design with the
effect of the global epidemic, the concept of sustainability
has also become one of the important elements
of design.
Hannover Fairs Turkey, the Turkey office of the German
fair organization Deutsche Messe AG, has added
a new one to the events it has held since June 2020,
with the Decor & Design Conference, in order to increase
communication in the sector within the scope
of the “Connection Days” platform. At the Decor &
Design Conference, which was held in digital environment
under the main theme of “Discover the Design
Codes of the Future”, sessions and panels were held
for two days, which included the future predictions
of architects and designers who are experts in their
fields.
Design now focuses not only on people, but also on
the environment and social impact
Arçelik Design Director Serdal Korkut Avcı, who made
a speech at the opening session of the conference,
emphasized that the current approach in design
should not only focus on people, but also focus on
the environment and social impact. In his speech,
Avcı said, “Since the industrial revolution, production
has gone through many stages. Today we are talking
about the sixth industrial wave, the bio-economy.
This includes environmental and environmental
awareness. Now, when we design our products, we
primarily think about the world. For this reason, plans
are being made to use recycled products in our designs
and to utilize our resources efficiently. It has become
our priority to design products with the approach
of ‘what is good for the world is also good for people’.
Sustainability Becomes Fashion in the Construction
Industry
In the panel on “Green Buildings and Sustainable
Design”, the reflections of the concept of sustainability
on the construction industry were discussed by
experts. Panel speakers emphasized the importance
of industry players and especially designers bringing
this issue into fashion in order to accelerate the reflection
of sustainability on the construction industry,
while noting that the concepts of environment and
sustainability have become more common in our lives
in the past 10 years, and the construction industry has
been affected by these concepts. In addition, they sha-
