SILVICULTURE<br />
Resume: The article outlines the most important silvicultural problems which<br />
were discussed by forestry experts of the Slave and national-democratic countries held<br />
were discussed by forestry experts cf the Slave and national-democratic countries<br />
during a conference held in May <strong>1948</strong> in Prague and while on an excursion trough<br />
Czechoslovakia after the conference.<br />
The importance of forest ecology and phytocenology, as well as proper silviculture<br />
is emphasized. A short description is given oif the outstandig characteristics of<br />
forest associations which were visited. Essential problems, such as regeneration, tending<br />
of woods, afforestation, forest aesthetic, griowing of protective forest belts, amelioration<br />
of forest pastures, etc., are stressed.<br />
