< 호연지기 浩 然 之 氣 >
호연지기란 도의( 道 義 )에 근거( 根 據 )를 두고 굽히지 않고 흔들리지 않는 바르고 큰 마음, 공
명정대( 公 明 正 大 )하 여 조금도 부끄럼 없는 용기( 勇 氣 ), 잡다( 雜 多 )한 일에서 벗어난 자유(
自 由 )로운 마음이다. 맑고 투명한 마음으로 지조 와 절개를 지키며 유혹에 흐트러짐 없이 불
의에 굴하지 않고 앞으로 곧게 나아가고자 한다.
곧게 자란 대나무 숲을 타고 흐르는 바람소리는 지극히 청량하여 머리와 마음을 맑고 바
르게 해준다.
< Vast Spirit >
I drew inspiration from a bamboo forest. There is a sound in the forest, the sound of wind
flowing peacefully through the bamboo forest which is so clear and cool that it makes my
spirit soothed and straighten out. I want to become a upright person who has integrity, fidelity
and constancy which are the basis of ‘Vast Spirit ( 浩 然 之 氣 )’ indicating a right and sound
mind, moral courage with impartiality and a free mind which is exempt from trivial matters.

< Korean Studiolo >
이번 작품은 조선시대 문자도에서 영감을 받아 작업하였다. 르네상스시대 권세가들은 자신
의 소장품을 ‘스투디올로’라 불린 일종의 공간에 진열했는데, 여기서 기원되어 독자적 형태로
발전한 것이 조선의 문자도이다. 당대 서민들은 문자도를 하나씩은 소유하고 싶어했으며, 이
번 작품 또한 보는 사람들로 하여금 소유하고 싶게 만들고자 하는 바람을 담아 제작하였다.
The artwork has begun with an inspiration from the painting of ‘Moonjado’ in Chosun dynasty.
Renaissance potentates exhibited their own collections in the spaces called ‘Studiolo’.
‘Moonjado’ originated in the ‘Studiolo’ as well, but it has been developed in its unique way.
As working class of the time desired to possess the painting of characters, the artwork was
produced with the wish making viewers people to desire to possess a piece of the artwork.
