Maqta Gateway and its main facilities?
Established in 2016, Maqta Gateway
LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary
of Abu Dhabi Ports and is a central
pillar of the company’s strategy to be
a leader in the development of integrated,
digital, global trade. Maqta
Gateway is the developer and operator
of the first Port Community
System in the United Arab Emirates;
Maqta PCS (mPCS), facilitating the
exchange of goods and the movement
of people, and contributing to
the sustainable development of Abu
Dhabi.
Maqta Port Community System
(mPCS) standardizes and secure all
the information exchange among
port stakeholders, customers and
governmental authority entities;
providing a single window to all port
services with system-to-system integration.
With real-time information
and service accessibility on all digital
platforms, mPCS accelerates business
development and trade in the
Emirate.
How many services does Maqta
Gateway provide?
Maqta PCS has exceeded 116 services,
which expand beyond from the
seaside operations to the yard side
operations, to the gate side, landside
and all the way into the industrial
zone and the free zone of KIZAD as
well. We also provide smart services
through our recently launched mobile
application called “Manara” which
especially designed for registered users
on the Maqta Port Community
System, enabling them to get realtime
updates of the status of their
shipments as they reach their destination.

To what extent Maqta Gateway
does facilitate the maritime trade
in Abu Dhabi?
We have started measuring the
impact of Maqta Gateway since our
initial operations with our stakeholders
in order to see how the system
can add a value to the whole supply
chain and to the whole trade process
of importing and exporting. We
found out that during 2016, for a
limited number of services and customers,
we managed to save more
than 217,000 hours of workload
in order to speed up the trade. We
have also made a very recognizable
progress with mega shipping lines
such as MAERSK LINE that has fully
adapted our services which shows
how IT and smart technology can
improve and facilitate our entire life
not only in the maritime sector.
Since its inception, how many
transactions were conducted and
recorded vessel entries through
Maqta Gateway and what is the
value of them?
We are very proud to announce
that we recorded more than 3.6 million
transactions in the system since
its inception. In addition, we are serving
100% of the shipping agents in
Abu Dhabi as well as importers and
exporters who are logging to the system.
We have logged more the than
38,000 vessel trips to the system
and now it has become mandated
for any vessel to come to any commercial
port in Abu Dhabi to log into
Maqta Gateway and to finish all the
processes though it.
