“UZMAR Shipping Ltd” is the first
privately owned pilotage and towage
company in Turkey. In 1984, the
company started with providing Port
services to various private ports and
harbors on the Aegean Sea in Turkey.
In 1996, the company started to build
workboats to fulfil their own requirements
then they have continued to
grow to start exporting internationally
using Robert Allan Ltd compact
tug designs. After this remarkable
success, in 2007 the company established
a modern shipbuilding facility
at Kocaeli Free Zone “KOSBAŞ” near
Istanbul equipped with the most recent
shipbuilding technologies. Today
the shipbuilding facility is referred to
as “UZMAR Workboat and Tug Factory”.
Remarkable projects
The company succeeded in offering
and delivering high quality products
and services to the international
market from their shipbuilding facility
based in Turkey. To further discuss
the company’s achievement, we have
exclusively met Mr. Ural Kavaklioglu,
the Senior Contract and Project
Manager who elaborated more on
the company’s recent projects, saying:
“We have successfully built and
delivered more than 100 tug boats
worldwide, such as Europe, Australia
and the Middle East. We have also delivered
4 tugboats to the Abu Dhabi
National Oil Company (ADNOC) as
well as, more than 5 various service
vessels to Abu Dhabi Ports, in addition
to other global leading operators
in the industry such as SMIT, where
