navigation skills that as perfect as the engineering technical capabilities. It is similar to navigate across the ocean,<br />

successful story of Grandweld Shipyards from Eng. Jamal Abki, the General Manager and Founder of one of the<br />
most remarkable shipyards in the UAE.<br />
Since you started your company<br />
in 1984, what are your landmark<br />
achievements?<br />
We have been in the shipbuilding<br />
industry since 1984 utilizing state of<br />
the art engineering solutions and advanced<br />
shipbuilding technologies. We<br />
are dedicated to deliver built to order<br />
ships ensuring high levels of customer<br />
satisfaction, whilst maintaining<br />
competitive advantage in product<br />
value and price.<br />
I would say that we have been success<strong>full</strong>y<br />
consolidating our brandname<br />
which leads to more progress<br />
and stability in the market. This is<br />
the most important accomplishment<br />
that enabled us to have a diversified<br />
portfolio of a well-known quality<br />
products in terms of design and<br />
specifications.<br />
Another landmark achievement occurred<br />
last year when we won a major<br />
contract to design, construct and<br />
deliver four crew boats and six pilot<br />
boats for Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).<br />
What does differentiate your brand<br />
to standout globally?<br />
Delaying in schedules and exceeding<br />
the contracts deadlines are considered<br />
as common drawbacks in<br />
the shipbuilding market. However,<br />
we have maintained our reputation<br />
with the on-time project delivery to<br />
all our clients. We can deliver all the<br />
maintenance work and ship building<br />
projects faster than most of the other<br />
shipyards in the market. This is a<br />
very crucial factor for shipsowners to<br />
avoid any unexpected costs.<br />
