In just a little over a decade, the Boca Raton Concours D’Elegance has<br />
emerged as one of the most prestigious car shows in America. The setting<br />
helps. The elegant Boca Raton Resort and Club opens its gates to nonmembers<br />
for the main car show, held on Sunday, February 12th on the<br />
southern fairways of the club’s golf course.<br />

The principal hosts are Rita and Rick<br />
Case, owners of one of South Florida’s<br />
largest car dealerships. The event benefits<br />
the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County.<br />
Nearly $10 million has been raised so<br />
far, making the Boca Raton event the fastest<br />
growing in the nation.<br />
More than 200 museum quality vehicles<br />
were on display, including a separate display<br />
of vintage motorcycles. This year’s<br />
show celebrated the marques of Auburn,<br />
Cord and Duesenberg. Even when they<br />

were new, the A-C-D cars were among the<br />
most expensive in the country. Now they<br />
are worth in the millions.<br />
Cars remain an American obsession.<br />
The Concours D’Elegance gives ordinary<br />
folks a chance to see the “crème de<br />
la crème” of motor vehicles. But there<br />
are other more ordinary cars, such as<br />
the Ford Model T. This year’s show even<br />
had an Oscar Mayer “Wienermobile.” The<br />
weekend’s festivities began with the du-<br />
Pont Registry Live Hangar Party at <strong>Atlantic</strong><br />
Aviation at the Boca Raton Airport.<br />
The Hangar Party offered guests a chance<br />
to experience select tastings from more<br />
than 20 of South Florida’s finest restaurants<br />
and peruse a display of exotic cars,<br />
custom motorcycles, extravagant boats,<br />
private jets, luxury motorcoaches, premier<br />
vendors and more. The event continued<br />
with a Saturday dinner with entertainment<br />
by comedian Jeff Foxworthy.<br />
