"Den blinde mand blev bedt om at afgøre, hvad en
elefant lignede ved at føle forskellige dele af elefantens
krop. Myten bruges til at illustrere princippet om
at leve i harmoni med mennesker, der har forskellige
trossystemer, og den relativistiske, eller uudtrykkelige,
sandhed."
The inspiration of Laura Winge:
"The blind men were asked to determine what an
elephant looked like by feeling different parts of the
elephant's body. The myth is used to illustrate the
principle of living in harmony with people who have
different belief systems, and the relativity, or the inexpressible
nature, of truth."

Erik Clausens inspiration:
"Vi kan lære mere af elefanterne end de kan lære af os.
Jeg var i Afrika. Fra en høj skråning iagttog jeg en flok
elefanter. Den ro, den livsglæde, den omsorg for deres
unger og den styrke, som de udtrykte, er til stor inspiration.
Derfor har jeg malet elefanten som symbolet på
Moder Jord."
The inspiration of Erik Clausen:
"We can learn more from elephants than they can
learn from us. I was in Africa. From a high hill I
watched a bunch of elephants. The calm, the cheerfulness,
and the care for their youngsters and the
strength that they expressed, is a great inspiration.
Therefore I have painted the elephant as the symbol of
Mother Earth."
