I was kind of surprised
tonight because I
thought you‘re playing
your solo Wino stuff, but
you didn’t.
„No, because it wasn’t advertized
properly. It’s so
new that I was so concentrating
on what’s happening
and not making
mistakes and anything.
And that’s the name of the
band, this band’s called
Premonition - brand new, I
mean. Bass drifter of Darsombra he played with us
one rehearsal yesterday here and today, so he played
everything twice. And so me and Matt, this is basically
what it is. Saint Vitus is only on tours two maybe three
weeks at a time, not that much. With Shrinebuilder, take
those guys, we are occupied too. We only tour like
2 weeks and not that often. Premonition will be my
band to fill in the rest of the time.“
It’s a real band at the moment?
„Yeah! Well, the bass player Brian Daniloski doesn’t live
in California. It really is a real band!“
So you’re recording an album?
„Yeah, yeah, we got a record deal with a WOW Comp.
Actually WOW Comp. is a huge clothing company, it
also has a record label and it’s a really great company.
It’s a peoples’ thing, and they make their own clothing
and test it. They are owned by Warner, it’s a big company,
so that’s cool. They’re gonna license ‘Adrift’, my
featured record from Andreas (Exile On Mainstreamdie
Red.), for the States on vinyl, and then they gonna
do a Premontion single. We’re about to record it. And
then they’re gonna do a Premonition full length, and
then I’m gonna do my project with Scott Kelly. I got a
lot going on with them, it’s a great company.“
How about your Wino solo stuff?
„That particular band with Jean Paul and whatever is
pretty much over. Jon Blank, who died, he was good,
but he passed a few little honesty tests, I mean, he failed
actually, he failed a few little tests I gave, you know
what I mean. Oh, we smoked that joint, you know. This
tiny little test I gave him. So, that man’s done. Jean-
Paul is great, but you know what I mean, Jean Paul is
busy, but I’m sure we gonna do something together

a record. And we did, we achieved that. We respect
each other and, you know, we’ll see what happens. If I
died right now, I’d be content because I played with
Grohl, Crover, Gaster I mean, god damn, I feel really
lucky man, really lucky. I played with all that great
gems. I’m spooling out of you. So I’m mad, it’s right
up to you, so I’m happy.“
I’m 33 now and you have been playing music the
same time, I guess.
„In what year were you born?“
...‘76.
„In 1976 I bought my first Les Paul Custom for 650
bucks.“
I want to go a little bit into the history of your music.
„Ok, that’s ok!“
Interview
You’ve been doing so much music: The Obsessed,
The Hidden Hand, Place of Skulls, Spirit Caravan
Is there any period you would call your favorite
one?
„This period right now is my favorite one, absolutely. I
like Spirit Caravan, that was very cool, very productive,
you know, very prolific. When I listen back to these
days it’s like ‘god damn’. We did a lot in the tribute time,
but at the same time, I don’t know, I think it was
kinda up tight in those days. So I’m just happy right
now because, I tell you right now: Saint Vitus is a whole
different animal. I really feel good, but I love to do,
you know what I mean, kinda like, I do tend to gig a
little more loaded just because it is what it is. I just feel
best singing Vitus and I’m more loaded. But, and I really
really enjoyed playing the guitar with, okay, this
band tonight. We have been jamming, no shit, for 20
years. 20 years off and on. But we never played with a
drummer, anybody else, just me and him (Sparky – die
Red.). Okay, first Drummer for The Hidden Hand, his
name is Dave Hennessy; he played the guitar in another
band. Well, the drummer for the band he played
the guitar in fucking came up, walked up to me at a
Shrinebuilder show and said: ‘Hey, I live here now!”
So I was like: ‚Wow, I got him play with me and the
guitar player!‘ So after 20 years we now have a drummer.
And then, I’ve known
Brian from Baltimore,
Matt „Sparky“
where we played with Spirit
Caravan. But anyways,
just so happens that he’s
been touring here a lot, so
Andreas put him on the
tour and now Brian is the
bass player for Premonition.
But we all live in the
States, so we’ll figure that
out.“
