definitely among the greatest riffs I´ve heard recently!
Also I think Francisco (drums) is gonna be recording
drums for ´em. As you can see the circle stays small
and closed, haha. I could also recommend Marcha Funebre
who just released an EP on Morbid Legions (Peru),
also keeping that epic dark vibe you could hear on
the early Solstice stuff plus some Paul Chain vibe here
and there, good! And well, let´s mention Capilla Ardiente
too, ha!“
Capilla Ardiente is your side project, right? Please
tell us more about it!
„Capilla Ardiente is Claudio´s music, where I play rythm
guitars and sing. The story goes back to 2004-05 I
guess, when I used to be roadie for his ex-band, Poema
Arcanus. We started with the idea, concepts and
stuff but we were living kinda far from each other. After
some years of silent composing and rehearsals etc. he
decided to ask a couple of friends to record drums and
solos. The result - dark Epic Doom Metal with Heavy
and Thrash influences! Specially for fans of Candlemass,
Solitude Aeturnus, Mercyful Fate, Voivod and
Motorhead! The first EP was released last year by High
Roller on vinyl and Eyes Like Snow on Cd. The full
lenght should be recorded somewhere next year as
Claudio has material enough for it.“
Ah, now I understand, Procession is your creative
playground and Capilla Ardiente is Claudio's. You
had been involved in Mourner's Lament as well.
Why did that band split up after having released
just one EP, "Unbroken Solemnity", in 2008?
„Yeah, on Descent Productions, still took 2 years to get
released. I decided to stop it mostly because it was getting
harder and harder to arrange rehearsals and the
interest on it was no the same anymore. Still we managed
to have a few good gigs, pretty tight Doom/Death
inspired by the early UK scene plus some epic style of
riffing here and there.“
Is it true that you had moved to Europe right before
releasing "Destroyers Of The Faith" with Procession,
why this and where did you move?
„Indeed, I´ve been living in Sweden now for 5 months.
Well, last year and before the ‚Disease Over Europe‘
tour I quitted my job, returned my apartment etc. A kinda
‚left all behind‘ if you know what I mean. Then while
touring, I met my actual girlfriend, who lives in Sweden,
so it was kinda an obvious step, considering that I´m
still young, there´s some interest and support for the
band more than in Chile anyway, told ya that before haha,
and well, the shipping costs for records were driving
me nuts! Now seriously, I got my chance to be closer to
what I wanna dedicate my life to and I took it. A new beginning
is always hard but it´s my choice and I´m proud
of it. And well, you might now that I now count on a couple
of Scandinavian folks as live members, so we can
keep the machine rolling!“
Then you already played at Hammer Of Doom festival
with those Swedish live members. But how do
you manage rehearsing with Claudio and Francisco?
Would you still call Procession a Chilean

„Hammer Of Doom was a killer and a great way to start
the promotion for ‚Destroyers Of The
Faith‘. But for the upcoming tour
Claudio and Francisco are coming
earlier so we can have a few days of
rehearsals. In the other hand they´re still having regular
rehearsals with background vocal and guitar tracks,
which I still find kinda funny, haha. But you know, we
were playing those tracks for almost 5 months, then
they recorded them, so those songs are already part of
themselves and I´m pretty sure the gigs on the tour are
gonna be excellent. If we control a ‚little‘ bit our drinking,
though in the past it has been proved that we can still
manage, haha. Procession is and will always be a Chilean
band as I´m Chilean and that´s never gonna
change!“
Interview
Excellent, so I can still expect a couple of Chilean
Doom Metal by the name of Procession in the future.

„Of course you´ll get your chilean Doom Metal dose for
a while, haha! But I don´t think we´ll release another full
lenght before 2012. Though we might record 1-2 new
songs for a split next year. And yes, we´re now confirming
the final dates for our tour so see you all doomed
worshippers there. Live fast, play slow!“
