The concern of EUROSCAPE is the development of bordercrossing European
Modules of education in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Management.
They can be developed either as independant modules in the process of
Lifelong Learning, offered in private-public partnership, as european packages
integrated in the curriculum of Landscape Architecture Education of any school
or as a special program for an „European Landscape Architect” degree (Master).
The proposal of the LE:NOTRE working group “Professional Practise” for an
“European Landscape Open University” goes in this direction. A regional forum
in Cracow with Poland, Germany and further east central european countries is
in preparation for 2004. EUROLANDSCAPE is involved in the preparations.
Subject of European Modules should be:
¬ European Professional Languages: Improvement of knowledge in european
languages by comparing studies of planning, environmental, economical and
social materials from the European Union and the whole of Europe
¬ European Culture: Definition of European identity and diversity and regional
particularities (in the broad sense of culture according to Hofstede) for
planning and land use.
¬ European and Global Values: Experiencing, knowing, tolerating and accepting
ethnological and religious differences of people living and working
in Europe and outside and their input in the future of Europe.
¬ European Working Techniques: Approaches of regional and international
professional practise in urban, suburban and rural areas
¬ European Regulations and Law: Contence, validity, working fields, opportunities
of transfer of european directives, regulations, laws, conventions, treaties
and agreements
¬ European Landscapes: Qualities and uniquness of european landscapes, discussion
of the relation ‘man - culture - nature’ under the motto: Culture
creates and protects Nature
¬ European Planning Approaches: Differences in Europe between north and
south, east and west in historical and social deductions, dealing with environmental
problems and acting pragmatical.
