5.2 Fitting to the structure
Fitting to masonry:
• Only dowels permitted under building regulations
requirements may be used for masonry.
• Where the base material cannot be identified, a system
for affixing the ladder system is to be agreed with the
designer of the supporting structure.
• It is also possible to anchor the system through the
masonry using a counter plate. This is to be discussed
and verified with the structural engineer.
Fitting to concrete structures:
• Only dowels permitted under building regulations
requirements may be used for concrete structures.
• Where the base material cannot be identified, a system
for affixing the ladder system is to be agreed with the
designer of the supporting structure.
• Concrete category = C 20 - 25
• Dowel pull-out strength = ≥ 12 kN
Recommended dowel for fixing to concrete structures:
HILTI HST-R M16
Ensure that the torques for the dowels used for
affixing the ladder are observed.
Fitting to steel structures:
• Fitting the anchor point to existing lugs.
The anchorage point is secured using bolts
(M16, property class 8.8).
• The bolts must be tightened with a torque
of 210 Nm.
• DIN 985 or DIN 980-compliant lock nuts are
approved for securing the bolts.
Alternatively, a liquid threadlocker, such as Loctite,
can be used.
• In all cases, ensure that the anchor point has been
fitted as specified and that it is secured to the
structure/ground according to the specifications.
