Summary
Since many years attempts have been made to find regulations for comprehensive minimization of
indoor radon on a national and an international scale. The national Radiation Protection Commission
(SSK) [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] was engaged in this topic as well as the International Commission on Radiological
Protection (ICRP) [6, [7]. Additionally the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) [8] and
the World Health Organisation (WHO) [9] have positioned themselves in this issue. From the European
Union (EU) a draft for an amendment of the basic safety standards for radiation protection [10] is
on hand. In this context also future national regulations must be expected. It must be obliged already,
to develop suitable strategies to be prepared for national regulations und to formulate them
commonly.
In the following the perceptions of the State of Saxony for an implementation of the recommendations
and the draft of the EU-directive are described. Additionally the activities on Radon protection in Saxony
are presented.
