It’s been five years since the entrepreneurial network “BNI Südost” wasfounded. The first meeting in Germany took place in 2003 over breakfast in Berlin,and for the last five years these meetings have also been taking place inDresden. There are currently 12 teams of entrepreneurs meeting in the regionbetween Chemnitz, Dresden, and Görlitz. According to the principles of BNI,strategic referral marketing is the most economical way to gain new customersin an ongoing way – more so than classical advertising, sponsoring or events.The distinctive feature that applies to members is that each profession can onlybe represented once in each chapter or group. With over 155,000 members inmore than 6,400 chapters, BNI is the most successful platform for contacts andbusiness referrals worldwide.Unlike other entrepreneurial networks, BNI relies on efficient organization,results-oriented guidelines and professional marketing measures to focus on itsstated goal: increased sales through new contacts and business referrals. Themembers of a workgroup consider themselves to be a “sales team” and usetheir own contacts for the benefit of the others.
