Nordwestlichder Stadt erstreckt sich das Erzgebirgische Beckenmit dem ehemaligen Lugau-Oelsnitzer Ste<strong>in</strong>kohlenrevier.Die etwa 11.460 E<strong>in</strong>wohner zählende Stadtbesitzt zwei entwickelte Gewerbegebiete, den Gewerbeparkmit sechs ansässigen Firmen sowie das Gewerbegebietam Stollberger Tor mit 40 Firmen. Heute ist das Bauwerk im Rahmen vonFührungen als Museum zugänglich.
