Keszthely története
A fenékpusztai erőd a város névadója
(castellum). 1247-ben, amikor írott forrás
először említi Keszthely város nevét,
már két templommal és egy kis kápolnával
rendelkezett. 1739-től a Festeticsek birtokaik
központját ide helyezték. A család egyik
legjelentősebb személyisége Festetics György,
aki az ország egyik szellemi központjává
tette Keszthelyt. A kiegyezés után fürdőés
iskolavárossá fejlődött, ma a környék
kulturális- és kereskedelmi központja.
