A Party in Summer
Already for the second time the highlight of the summer
took place in the former office of the State Council of the GDR.
VBKI President Markus Voigt greeted the approximately 1,000
guests in the garden of the historic site and appealed to the numerous
representatives of politics and business to tackle Berlin’s great
challenges for the future together. Particularly in the core task of
housing construction, politicians and business should see themselves
as partners and mobilise all available forces.
In his subsequent welcoming address, Berlin’s Governing Mayor
Michael Müller thanked VBKI on behalf of the entire Senate both
for its many years of charitable commitment and for its critical and
constructive support of regional politics. Despite all the sometimes
justified criticism, Müller called for the positive developments of the
city to be seen.
In addition to the Governing Mayor, the Berlin Senate was represented
by Economics Senator Ramona Pop and Interior Senator
Andreas Geisel; members of the House of Representatives were
also present.
In the late evening a brilliant fireworks show lit up the Berlin sky.
Culinary specialities of the catering team led the guests on a culinary
trip around the world, top-notch DJs and live bands such as
the popular »Dixie Deluxe« and »Jimmy North & Friends« set
the right musical accents. Dancing and partying lasted until late
into the night – an unforgettable evening!
