wird die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Forsche-<br />
rInnengruppen auf allen Wissenschaftsgebie-<br />
ten stimuliert. Aufgrund der geringeren<br />
Nachfrage startete der <strong>FWF</strong> Bemühungen,<br />
die Abkommen zu aktualisieren. U. a. laufen<br />
„Memoranda of Understanding“ mit folgen-<br />
den Organisationen:<br />
■ National Natural Science Foundation of<br />
China (NSFC), Volksrepublik China<br />
■ Nationaler Wissenschaftlicher For-<br />
schungsfonds (OTKA), Ungarn<br />
■ Grantová Agentura České Republiky<br />
(GA CR), Tschechische Republik<br />
■ The Japan Society for the Promotion of<br />
Research (JSPS), Japan<br />
ICDP (International Continental Scientific<br />
Drilling Program) Seit 2001 ist Österreich –<br />
vertreten durch den <strong>FWF</strong> und die Öster-<br />
reichische Akademie der Wissenschaften –<br />
ALLGEMEINER TÄTIGKEITSBERICHT Internationales<br />
Mitglied beim internationalen kontinentalen<br />
Tiefbohrungsprogramm ICDP. Dadurch haben<br />
österreichische WissenschafterInnen Gelegenheit,<br />
bei ICDP-Projekten mitzuarbeiten<br />
und auch selbst Anträge für Bohrprojekte<br />
(oder Teilbereiche) zu stellen. Österreichische<br />
WissenschafterInnen waren bereits an drei<br />
großen internationalen Bohrprojekten beteiligt,<br />
bei zwei davon in führender Position.<br />
IODP (Integrated Ocean Drilling Program)<br />
Seit Oktober <strong>2004</strong> ist Österreich – vertreten<br />
durch den <strong>FWF</strong> und die Österreichische<br />
Akademie der Wissenschaften – Mitglied bei<br />
ECORD (European Consortium for Ocean<br />
Research Drilling), der europäischen Beteiligungsorganisation<br />
am internationalen Ozeanbohrprogramm<br />
IODP. Dieses größte internationale<br />
geowissenschaftliche Programm<br />
weist einen starken Fokus im Hinblick auf biologische<br />
und klimatologische Fragestellungen<br />
