Basic functions of Tracker Hunter®
This section is where you are guided through the vocabulary of Tracker Hunter®, icons of the programme and the
functions they offer.
Tracker Hunter® opens always, also after the registration, onto the map. That is why the Menu paths always start
from map or by choosing the device you want to manage, because we want to make sure you do the management
activities to the right device. In reality the desired device is usually already chosen, and you can follow a simpler
menu path.
In the bar below, on the map view, there are three options to choose from: Menu (Map/Main manu), Smartmenu
(opens by pressing the joystick) and Targets. Icons in the menus vary according to the active functions. If you
cannot find the icon you are looking for, check which functions are active and which target is chosen as displayed
target.
The programme has a built-in guide, which covers the main functions. The guide opens by choosing the question
mark on the upper left corner of a menu. The programme may also offer help in executing commands. Also follow
the commands on the bar below.
Also, learning how to use Shortcut keys (end of the booklet) makes using Tracker Hunter® easier and faster.
Tracker Hunter® vocabulary
Programme refers here to the Tracker Hunter® 3.0 programme.
Memory card on the mobile stores all Tracker Hunter® data, including maps, tracks, targets, routes and lines.
Tracker Hunter® product does not contain any memory card,so the user has to purchase one separately in case
the mobile phone does not include a memory card. There are several kinds of memory cards available. Instead of
a memory card also an internal hard disk or a flash drive can be used.
Device means here a dog‟s collar (e.g. Tracker G400) or device that is connected to your mobile via GPRS and
that you can add to your Tracker Hunter® targets.
Sharename is like a user name for the Tracker Hunter®. Every device must have a unique share name.
Displayname is the public name of yourself or your device on the Tracker Live server.
Owner password and the sharename are needed to set tracking commands and commands related to alarms.
We do not recommend giving out owner password.
Viewer password. Owners can share their targets in Tracker Hunter®/Tracker Live. With viewers password
and sharename of the target you can search for these targets. Viewers can view the dog on their mobile phone but
they cannot set commands or call the collar. This way you do not need to give your dog collar‟s phone number to
everyone who wants to see the dog‟s motion.
Cursor on the map can be moved by joystick of the phone. (Clicking the joystick in the middle opens the Smart
menu). By a short press cursor moves step by step, slowly over the map. The longer you press the direction, the
faster the cursor moves on the map.
GPS (Global Positioning System) is a constellation of satellites sending signals which enable GPS receivers to
determine their current location, the time, and their velocity. The status of your GPS device is shown on the
display, on the top bar. Also, an icon shows the strength of the GPS signal . The icon indicates if the GPS
device is disconnected. Tracker Hunter® will remember what status GPS had (on or off) when you last used the
software and will start up with that mode.
A-GPS (Assisted GPS) uploads orbital data from satellites over the GSM network, which improves performance
and reliability of GPS positioning and decreases power consumption. A-GPS of the dog‟s collar can be configured
from Configuration commands-menu. A-GPS technologies may also be available in your mobile phone, (see
phone manual).
My position is your own location located by GPS and indicated on the map as a green circle or a triangle
(during movement). All distances to targets are shown in relation to My position. My position is your GPS location
when GPS is on. If GPS is off, My position is the latest GPS location received and you may then set My position to
other locations than your actual location.
Displayed target is the target you have chosen to be shown on the map and that you are managing – that is
where the commands and requests are sent. The icon of Displayed target is emphasized on the map with a
rectangle selection and a line is drawn between the target and My Position.
