Voraussetzungen für die Zukunft der Produktion in Deutschland sind hervorragende Forschungsergebnisse, Erkenntnistransfer und Innovation. Vor einem turbulenten gesamtwirtschaftlichen Hintergrund konnte das BIBA seine Stellung als führendes Institut für Produktion und Logistik weiterhin ausbauen. Im Fokus des Jahres 2009 standen wieder die Aktivitäten des BIBA entlang des Innovationszyklus: von der Initiierung und Arbeit bzw. Mitarbeit an zukunftsweisenden Grundlagenforschungsprogrammen über die anwendungsorientierte Verbundforschung bis zur Anwendung erforschter Produktions- und Logistikmethoden bei Wirtschaftspartnern. Der diesjährige Bericht nimmt in der Darstellung die vielfältigen Projekte des BIBA entlang des Innovationszyklus auf und zeigt so auch die Vielfalt der Möglichkeiten der Zusammenarbeit mit dem BIBA für interessierte Projektpartner und Auftraggeber in der Zukunft auf. Diesen Herausforderungen stellt sich das BIBA mit interdisziplinären Teams und modernen Arbeitskonzepten, die in der Lage sind, die immer komplexer werdenden Anforderungen erfolgreicher moderner Produktions- und Logistikkonzepte und -technologien zu beherrschen. Der verfolgte integrative Ansatz bewährt sich. Hervorzuheben für das Institut, 2009 offiziell ausgezeichneter Ort im Land der Ideen, ist auch die Organisation internationaler Konferenzen, die Präsenz bei internationalen Messen und Kongressen, die Intensivierung seiner Beziehungen mit weltweit tätigen Industriepartnern, der Start privilegierter wissenschaftlicher Beziehungen und eines gemeinsamen Projektes der Grundlagenforschung mit Brasilien. Mit der Ernennung von Dr. Wimmer, Geschäftsführer der Bundesvereinigung für Logistik, zum Honorarprofessor für Angewandte Logistik an der Universität Bremen, freuen wir uns auf einen erfahrenen Logistiker in unserem Haus und weiterhin auf sein Engagement in Lehre und Forschung. Wissenschaft im Dienste von Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft bleibt das Motto unseres Instituts. Die Akzeptanz und Anerkennung unserer Arbeit zeugen von unserem Erfolg. Drittmittelgeber und Industriepartner honorieren gleichermaßen unsere Erfahrung. Die Qualifikation unseres wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses wird von Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft bestätigt. Allen, die an der Erforschung innovativer Konzepte, Methoden und Technologien mitwirken, und allen, die ihr Vertrauen in unser Haus setzen, möchte ich herzlichst danken. Das neue Jahrzehnt bringt auch neue Herausforderungen. Nur gemeinsam werden wir die Innovationen der Zukunft erfolgreich gestalten! Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Scholz-Reiter (Geschäftsführer) Editorial Outstanding research results, new innovation and the conveyance of insight are the conditions for the future of production in Germany. Despite a turbulent economic background BIBA could further establish its position as a prominent institute for production and logistics. In the year 2009 the focus of activities for BIBA were once again located within the innovative arena: from initiation, work and/or cooperation of trend-setting basic research programs to application-oriented compound research and the application of production and logistic methods at the business partners location. This year’s report includes the various projects of BIBA along the innovative arena and also points out the variety of cooperation possibilities with BIBA for interested project partners and clients in the future. BIBA takes on the challenges it faces with interdisciplinary teams and modern work concepts that are able to control the increasingly complex requirements of successful and modern production and logistics concepts and technologies. The pursued integrative approach stands the test. The BIBA institute, 2009 officially recognized as a landmark in the land of ideas, stands out for its organization of international conferences and presence at international fairs and congresses, the intensification of its relations with active global industrial partners, the initiation of privileged scientific relations and for the common research project with Brazil. With the nomination of Dr. Wimmer, managing director of the Federal Union for Logistics, as honorary professor for applied logistics at the University of Bremen, we look forward to having an experienced logistician in our midst and to his further commitment to teachings and research. Science in the service of society and economics remains the slogan of our institute. The acceptance and acknowledgment of our work are testimony to our success. External capital providers and industrial partners equally honour our experience. The aptitude of our young scientific generation is acknowledged by economics and science. I would like to thank everyone who has participated in the study of innovative concepts, methods and technologies, and everyone who places their confidence in our institute. The new decade will bring new challenges; only together can we create the innovations for a successful future! 1
