• Up to eight wires can be required in all, depending on the type of E&M used on<br />

the PBX.<br />

Caution: For important E&M wiring and grounding considerations, refer to<br />

“E&M Wiring and Grounding” on page 4-21.<br />

NOTE: You must install a ferrite on each cable connected to an E&M port on an<br />

<strong>SDM</strong>-<strong>9220</strong> UAC, <strong>SDM</strong>-<strong>9220</strong> DC, <strong>SDM</strong>-<strong>9230</strong> UAC or <strong>SDM</strong>-<strong>9230</strong> DC.<br />

These ferrites are not provided with the product package. For instructions,<br />

turn to “Installing the Ferrites (EMI Filters)” on page 4-24.<br />

5.9.2 Channelized Digital Interfaces<br />

The following digital interface cards are available: single port T1/E1, dual port T1/E1 and<br />

ISDN BRI S/T.<br />

You must install a DSP module if you intend to use any of these interface cards for digital<br />

voice or GSM. See “Installing or Upgrading the DSP Module” on page 4-5.<br />

T1/E1 Interface Cards<br />

Ordering part numbers:161-1032-001 for the single port interface card<br />

161-1032-002 for the dual port interface card<br />

• Single port interface with one RJ-48 female connector<br />

• Dual port interface with two RJ-48 female connectors<br />

• Two independent software configurable transceivers:<br />

- T1 (DS1)/ISDN-PRI: Provides a 1.544 Mbps channelized digital connection<br />

at 100 Ohms with up to 24 timeslots<br />

- E1 (CEPT) PCM-30/ISDN-PRI: Provides a 2.048 Mbps channelized digital<br />

connection with up to 32 timeslots, software selectable at 75 or 120 Ohms<br />

An E1-75 connection requires an RJ-48 to E1-75 dual BNC adaptor cable<br />

(Ordering part number: 161-0469-001) and two jumpers for each port. Refer<br />

to “T1/E1 Interface Cards at 75 Ohms” on page 5-20, and “E1-75 Jumpers”<br />

on page 4-12.<br />

In addition, you must install a ferrite on each coaxial cable connected to<br />

an E1-75 port on an <strong>SDM</strong>-<strong>9220</strong> DC or <strong>SDM</strong>-<strong>9230</strong> DC in all countries.<br />

These ferrites are not provided with the product package. For instructions,<br />

turn to “Installing the Ferrites (EMI Filters)” on page 4-24.<br />
