hotel borobudur introduces
new master chef
Spearheading Teratai
Restaurant at Hotel
Borobudur is Chef Zhang
Xiu Lan, who assumed
the post of Master Chef of the
luxury Cantonese eatery in
March 2011. She brings topnotch
know-how and experience
from her previous position at
Hu Bin Mei Zhi Lo in the Yuyuan
Garden in Shanghai, where
she worked for 20 years. Her
expertise in the field bodes
positive auguries for her
career in Teratai. Her forte
is her handmade Xiao Long
Bao – steamed dumplings
filled with vegetables, meat
and soup – as she is able to
achieve skin of a silken yet
firm consistency; and harmony
between the sweet and
savoury elements of the dumpling.
Her skillfully-prepared noodle
dishes and Dim Sum are also to be
revered. The lobby-level restaurant
is open for lunch (11:30 a.m.-2:30
p.m.) and dinner (6:30 p.m.-10:30
p.m.) seven days a week.
Hotel Borobudur, nicknamed Jakarta’s
‘Grand old lady of hospitality’ features
695 guest rooms and suites. The hotel’s
five restaurants serve Italian, Chinese,
Indonesian and Japanese cuisine.
