Other Sightings
During marine mammal monitoring for the EHW-1 PRP, there was one sighting of the North
American river otter (Lontra canadensis). The North American river otter is a mammal species
that inhabits primarily freshwater rivers and terrestrial habitats. While it occasionally occurs in
marine waters, the river otter is not managed under the MMPA or listed under the ESA. The
North American river otter is under the jurisdiction of the United States Fish and Wildlife
Service (USFWS). The individual was sighted on 27 October at a distance of 400 m (1,312 ft)
from the pile during vibratory pile driving, with no apparent adverse reaction to construction
activities.
