Appendix J: Remedial cleaning on a construction site<br />

Facilities and equipment readily available for re-cleaning on or near a construction site are frequently<br />
limited.<br />
When deciding on the method that can be used to a carry out remedial cleaning, consideration shall<br />
be given to the design, construction, size and materials of construction.<br />
While reference should be made to the original cleaning method, it should be appreciated by all<br />
parties, that duplication of any given cleaning method at another location, is often difficult.<br />
The original equipment manufacturer may be consulted on the proposed re-cleaning method.<br />
Facilities that can usually be provided on site are:<br />
� Portable high pressure steam cleaning<br />
� Pickling baths<br />
� Solvent or detergent baths.<br />
Small localised cleaning can be carried out by wiping with Tint free cloth and a solvent.<br />
Care shall be taken that no hazardous residuals remain.<br />
Care must be taken that the values of oil, grease and other contaminants are below the given figures<br />
acc. to this document.<br />
The cleaning procedure and the test-results should be recorded.
