MINUTES OF MEETING OF STRASBURG BOROUGH COUNCIL HELD FEBRUARY' 6~ 1939 ~ The meeting was called to order by H. C. Kaufman, Vice President. The following were present: and the following members of Council: Burgess Frank B. Koch Water Superintendent, Jacob H. Ranck Secretary, John Milton Ranck H. C. Kaufman M. Huber Hess Harold H. Messner Sherman W. Book William T. Koch E, R. Murphy Chas. M. Miller Leon C. Hensel The Minutes of the previous meeting were read. and approved. Jacob H. Ranck, , Water Superintendent, reported that the water was 'I much stronger and that there was a good overflow at both places, Street Light Committee: No report. Street Committee: No reports Chas. M. Miller, on behalf of the Relief Committee, reported sending a ton of coal to Charles Murray, , and also advised. Counci. l that Mr. Murray reques ted. an add. itional ton. The Secretary reported that pursuant to a Resolution made at the meeting of Januar y 12, 1939, an advertisement had. been placed jn the Stras- burg Weekly News, advising the electors that the proposed Strasburg Borough Budget was on file at the office of the Secretary for a period of fif teen days ~ On motion of Sherman W. Book, seconded by E ~ R ~ Murphy, the Ordinance levying the tax for the year 1939 and fi xing the salary of Borough Officers was read. by the Secretary and adopted by vote of eight ayes and no nays, On motion df M. Huber Hess, the Borough Budget for the year 1939 on the form required. by law, was adopted by a vote of eight ayes and no nays,
a copy of which Budget is attached to these Minutes and. made a part hereof That in connection with the adoption of the Budget and as part thereof, on motion of Harold H. Messner, seeonded by M. Huber Hess, the Appropriation Resolution. containing the anticipated receipts and appropr5ations for the year 1939 was adopted, copy of which is hereto attached and made a part hereof. The Secretary advised. Council of conversMions had wi th Fred L. Homsher pursuant to the reduction of interest' rate on Borough Bonds, and read a communication from Fred. L. Homsher, dated February 6, 1939, which stated, inter alia: "The following is a list of individuals who own Borough of Strasburg 4~/ Bonds, together with the amount which they respectively own: Amos G. Rohrer, Strasburg The Secretary repor ted that he had been in communication with Mr, William Schilling and that the latter is making efforts to obtain a new mortgage and pay off the mortgage now held by the Borough on his property, which mortgage is in the Borough Sinking Pund.
