Effects of Oplum-Smoking.-No need to increase dose (4467). No adverse
effect on work (4463). It does no harm (4475), (4478), (4488). Very heavy
smokers suffer a litte harm (4479).
Prevalence.-My. children do not smoke (4482). It is too expensive a
habit to allow (4484).
Control.-I am not in favour of restriction (4469).
Rationing, Registration and Licensing.-I see no objection to licensing if
I"OU do not make personal purchase compulsory and do not restrict quantity
(4470). Good class Chinese will object to registration (4477). It will adversely
affect labour supply (4491).
General.-I smoke 4 chees a day. Used to smoke more (4468).

. General.-There are about 60 grains of morphia in one tahil of chandu
(4528). Persian opium has less morphine content than Indian (4533).

There is nothing in the idea of making chandu more liquid except greater
