Consonant Nucleus Consonant (CNC) Test
(Peterson and Lehiste, 1962)
Description: This test was developed to provide lists of monosyllabic words with
equal phonemic distribution across lists with each list exhibiting approximately
the same phonemic distribution as the English language. The ten lists of 50 words
contain monosyllabic words with a frequency of occurrence greater than four
per million, as calculated in the Thorndike and Lorge word frequency tables.

Cottage Acquisition Scales for Listening, Language and Speech

Description: The CASLLS provides ongoing assessment prior to and during
intervention. Each form represents a stage of development and includes
listening, language, speech and cognition milestones based on normal
development. The stages include: Pre-verbal, Pre-sentence, Simple Sentence,
Complex Sentence, and Sounds and Speech. The forms provide information
that is easy for parents and professionals to understand and are helpful for longterm
planning and IEP development.
