2a. QUALIjTi'ATIVE ANALYSIS. Prerequisites, Chemistry
I a and ib. First term; lectures two hours; laboratory six hours;
five credits.
The class-room work in this course is intended to give a deeper
insight into the meaning of the laws and theories of inorganic
chemistry. In the laboratory, these theories are applied to the sys-
tematic analysis of the common acids, bases, and alloys.
2b. QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS. Prerequisites, Chemistry
la, lb, and 2a. Second term; lecture one hour; laboratory six hours;
four credits. Continuation of Chemistry 2a.
3a and 3b. ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. Prerequisites, Chim-
istry la and ib. Throughout the year; lectures three hours; lab-
oratory four hours; ten credits.
A course designed to cover the most important theories, pro-
cesses, and underlying principles of organic chemistry. The lab-
oratory work consists in the preparation, purification, and identification-tests
of representative organic compounds, and affords some
practice in the analytical detection and quantitative determination of
various organic substances.
4c. QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS. Gravimetric and Volu-
metric. Prerequisite, Chemistry 2a. Second term; lecture one hour;
laboratory six hours; four credits.
4d. QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS. Prerequisites, Chemistry
2a and 4c. First term; lecture one hour; laboratory six hours; four
credits. Continuation of Chemistry 4c.
