Dayrit, sister of his friend Clemente Dayrit and daughter of Pablo<br />

Dayrit and Juliana Nepomuceno, a daughter of Pio Rafael<br />

Nepomuceno); Cornelio Tayag, who settled in Concepcion, Tarlac<br />

(a daughter, Alice Saldaña, owns the famous resort in<br />

Guimaras,Iloilo, Isla Naburot); Isidro Tayag, who served as a judge<br />

in Mabalacat and Magalang; Antonia Tayag, who taught in<br />

Pampanga High School and later <strong>Holy</strong> <strong>Angel</strong> Academy; Anicia Tayag,<br />

who married Manuel Lazatin; and Loreto Tayag, who married Jose<br />

“Pitong” Panlilio, son of Don Alejandro Panlilio.<br />

Jose Tayag became a doctor, and after he was widowed he<br />

flew to Paris to take up postgraduate studies in pediatrics (he<br />

was among the first three licensed doctors to put up their respective<br />

clinics in <strong>Angel</strong>es, along with Dr. Clemente Dayrit and<br />

Dr. Pacifico Panlilio, in 1910). He raised nine children by his first<br />

wife (one girl followed by eight boys) who all went to Pampanga<br />

High School and eventually established illustrious careers:<br />

Herminigildo Tayag (who was in the same class as Diosdado<br />

Macapagal in 1929; Herminigildo graduated valedictorian while<br />

Diosdado was only 4 th ); Benjamin Tayag, Renato “Katoks” Tayag<br />

(also class valedictorian in 1933; he became Ferdinando Marcos’<br />

roommate and partner in their law office, and later a noted journalist,<br />

book author and Director of the Philippine National Bank<br />

for 19 years); Dr. Ricardo Tayag, Luis Tayag, Dr. Nolasco Tayag<br />

(the only one still alive); Armentario Tayag and Atty. Enrique<br />

Tayag, who co-authored the <strong>Angel</strong>es City Charter. The only girl<br />

was Mayo Tayag Zablan.<br />

Jose Tayag had other children by second wife Mercedes<br />

Narciso: Filonila T. Lansang (who owns Batis Azul), Guillermina<br />

T. Rigor, Victoria T. Dychoco, the twins Ludovico and Segundo,<br />

and Jose Jr., as well as out of wedlock: Josefina Tayag Gonzales<br />

(by Roberta Tablante Paras), who originated the R.T. Paras Dress-<br />

making School which eventually grew into a fashion empire; and<br />

Clinio Tayag, a dentist.<br />

The succeeding generations of Tayag include entrepreneurs<br />

Abong Tayag and Carmen McTavish, visual artist/culinary expert<br />

Claude Tayag, visual artist Ronnie Tayag, stand-up comic<br />

artist Tim Tayag, Anne Saldaña, manager of Isla Naburot resort<br />
