Reinforce role of mayors <strong>and</strong> local agents of government<br />

sourced from wildcrafters, cultivators <strong>and</strong> plantations.<br />
Emphasis will be to improve skill levels to satisfy the<br />
needs of the local medicinal market.<br />
Organize information days or special one-day events that<br />
bring producers (wildcrafters, cultivators, plantation<br />
managers) together with buyers/distributors/exporters<br />
with facilitators. Focus on establishing relationships,<br />
increasing trust <strong>and</strong> exp<strong>and</strong>ing information flow <strong>and</strong><br />
knowledge sharing among participants.<br />
Upgrade “informal” processors in the value chain<br />
through demonstration. Improve skill levels, material<br />
used <strong>and</strong> quality of processing units. Invite an<br />
experienced appropriate technology specialist to<br />
<strong>Madagascar</strong> who has built small <strong>and</strong> efficient (in water<br />
<strong>and</strong> energy) distilleries. Specialist will build a prototype in<br />
a local agricultural machine institution, test the distillery<br />
in an AMP production zone, design <strong>and</strong> implement a<br />
training program around the unit for “informal”<br />
processors, collectors <strong>and</strong> others.<br />
Recruit <strong>and</strong> hire an intern for one-year who will act as<br />
coordinator of the AMP development strategy <strong>and</strong><br />
proposed program<br />
Work with Ministry of Tourism, hotels <strong>and</strong> spa sector to<br />
coordinate with “<strong>Madagascar</strong> Naturally” br<strong>and</strong>ing<br />
campaign.<br />
