Valve almost circular, slightly con-<br />

vex, with cellular structure, interrupted<br />

by two large hyaline spaces, subreni-<br />

form, opposite one another, and<br />

inclined to one another at an angle of<br />

40. Each hyaline area encloses at<br />

its median and dorsal portions a small<br />

oblong ocellus, whence arise two<br />

silicious inflations, running in a<br />

direction towards the apices of the<br />

hyaline Spaces.<br />

This genus only comprises one species, Bergonia Barbadensfs Temp. (fig.<br />

221), from the Barbadoes deposits. My figure is drawn from a photograph<br />

which I made from a valve Mr. Tempere was good enough to entrust to me.<br />
