In this course, students will learn all the skills<br />
necessary for working in a technology-oriented<br />
environment. They will <strong>re</strong>ceive individualized<br />
instruction in computer skills, business<br />
document formatting, business math, filing<br />
techniques, mail room skills, and telephone<br />
usage and etiquette. They will be introduced to<br />
office technology, including the basics in word<br />
processing, sp<strong>re</strong>adsheet, and database softwa<strong>re</strong>.<br />
Students will also learn to use copy and fax<br />
machines.<br />
Students will develop professional skills<br />
including:<br />
• time management<br />
• teamwork<br />
• interpersonal <strong>re</strong>lations<br />
• effective communication<br />
• personal and professional management<br />
Young trainees will learn how to:<br />
• p<strong>re</strong>pa<strong>re</strong> and edit letters, memos, tables,<br />
columns, and <strong>re</strong>ports<br />
• compute payrolls with overtime and<br />
commission<br />
• keep an inventory using sp<strong>re</strong>adsheets<br />
Course available: Grades 11 or 12 Course length: 1 or 2 years<br />

Upon graduation, students will be adept in<br />
typical office practices and employable in many<br />

titles include <strong>re</strong>ceptionist, file clerk, mail clerk,<br />
