It organises talks, seminars and workshops on a multitude of topics to promote a spirit of self-improvement and enrichment. These events also provide NUSS members with ample opportunities for social interaction and networking. Informative seminars such as ‘Planning a Will’ and ‘How to Manage Your Finances’ proved popular among members. Encouraged, the Sub-Committee will continue to pursue these areas of interests. Mindful that many NUSS members have children, the Sub-Committee organised a myriad of events and activities to suit both adults and children. This included a Chess Tournament in October 2006 that proved popular with members and their children. The NUSS Kids’ Club To cater specifically to the interests of members’ children, the Sub-Committee launched the NUSS Kids’ Club in 2005. It has since attracted some 250 young members ranging from four to 12 years of age. The NUSS Kids’ Club seeks to create a sense of belonging for members’ children by providing a variety of interesting and educational activities to develop their young minds. The NUSS Toastmasters Club Chartered in December 2004, the NUSS Toastmasters Club provides opportunities for members to master communication skills and the art of public speaking. At the monthly Chapter Meetings, members build up their confidence and skills through practice, thoughtful peer evaluations and expert pointers from veteran Toastmasters. Over the last two years, the NUSS Toastmasters Club has grown from strength to strength. It now has 34 members.
