nuss annual report 2006 Chairperson Mohan Balagopal Deputy Chairperson Wong Peng Meng Members Bay Yew Chuan Henry Liew Kok Keong Wayne Maksylewich Alvin Ong Siau Wah Andrew Teo Neng Wee Esther Wong Fai Seok (Ms) PG External Alumni Relations Networking Sub-Committee In line with the Society’s aspiration of reaching beyond our shores, the External Alumni Relations Networking (EARN) Sub-Committee seeks to establish and maintain links with graduate associations locally and internationally. During the course of the year, conscious effort was made to engage several foreign alumni bodies with a view to encourage mutual collaboration with various alumni associations and to facilitate interaction among graduates from different universities. Establishing Ties: Foreign University Graduate Associations Building on its success of linking up with three graduate bodies in year 2005, namely, the University Club of Denver in Colorado, USA, the University Club of Pasadena, California, USA and University Club of Montreal in Canada, the Sub-Committee worked to establish reciprocity with three other alumni clubs in 2006. These are: n University House at the Australian National University, Australia n The Graduate Union of the University of Melbourne, Australia n The University Women’s Club, London, United Kingdom These six graduate clubs now offer NUSS members privileged access to their facilities, including dining outlets and seminar rooms. Some of these associations like The Graduate Union of the University of Melbourne and University Women’s Club also provide overnight accommodation at rates significantly lower than hotels within the same area. Most of these establishments are exclusive to their members and members of reciprocal clubs. Members can continue to look forward to broadening their networking opportunities globally as the Sub-Committee actively seeks potential collaborations with other graduate associations.
A new reciprocal arrangement with the Graduate Union of the University of Melbourne Looking Ahead Beyond establishing reciprocal arrangements, the Sub-Committee will also pursue potential collaborations with local alumni groups such as the Singapore Chapter of the University of Western Sydney. Concurrently, the Sub-Committee will seek to identify areas of engagement with existing partners such as the Imperial College Alumni Association Singapore (ICAAS), Persatuan Alumni Universiti Malaya (PAUM) and the Alumni International Singapore (AIS). AIS is a group of alumni associations, of which NUSS was a founding member. The Sub-Committee is committed to establishing more links with local and overseas alumni associations to afford NUSS members greater networking opportunities.
