Utah Notes. Mormon Scrip aka White Notes or Valley Notes. Set of four notes in $3, $2, $1, and 50¢ denominations.
18. Salt Lake City: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1849. Near fine. Set of four notes issued by LDS leaders
in January, 1849. This currency constitutes the first printing and typesetting to occur in Utah Territory. Notes measure
approximately 3.75 x 2 inches and are printed on white paper on one side with spaces for signatures. All are dated Jan
20, 1849. Each note is made payable to Newell. K. Whitney, and signed in brown ink by him, Brigham Young, Heber C.
Kimball, and Thomas Bullock. The 50 cent note is hand numbered 828. The other three were not numbered. A 25 cent
note was also printed, but not signed or issued, and is not included in this set. A

with light soiling to front and back pages. Original printing on large sheet, folded to
octavo size. The address covers topics of growth in the state, Indian affairs and the

unbound, sewn at spine. Near fine with a bit of offsetting from original printing. A
great, bright copy. In the address, Young discusses new federal appointees to the
Territory, as well as denying responsibility for the deaths at Mountain Meadows
