First Printing in Utah. A Set of Short Lived Scrip Signed by Brigham Young<br />
Utah Notes. Mormon Scrip aka White Notes or Valley Notes. Set of four notes in $3, $2, $1, and 50¢ denominations.<br />
18. Salt Lake City: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1849. Near fine. Set of four notes issued by LDS leaders<br />
in January, 1849. This currency constitutes the first printing and typesetting to occur in Utah Territory. Notes measure<br />
approximately 3.75 x 2 inches and are printed on white paper on one side with spaces for signatures. All are dated Jan<br />
20, 1849. Each note is made payable to Newell. K. Whitney, and signed in brown ink by him, Brigham Young, Heber C.<br />
Kimball, and Thomas Bullock. The 50 cent note is hand numbered 828. The other three were not numbered. A 25 cent<br />
note was also printed, but not signed or issued, and is not included in this set. A<br />

with light soiling to front and back pages. Original printing on large sheet, folded to<br />
octavo size. The address covers topics of growth in the state, Indian affairs and the<br />

great, bright copy. In the address, Young discusses new federal appointees to the<br />
Territory, as well as denying responsibility for the deaths at Mountain Meadows<br />
