9. Mawe, John. Travels in the Interior of Brazil, Particularly in the Gold
and Diamond Districts of That Country. Illustrated with full page
engravings. London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown, 1812. 1st
edition. 368 pages. 4to. Contemporary brown leather boards,
sympathetically rebacked in leather with raised bands, gilt title and
dingbats, and red leather label. Good condition. Apparently, the volume was
at some time exposed to heat and the edges of the original boards are
blackened. The rebacking was done some time ago and the joints have
become brittle, though the volume looks beautiful from the spine.
Endsheets are spotted. Pages are very clean with uniform offsetting. In the
middle a section of pages has shallow tide lines in the top margins, not
affecting text or images. Illustration pages are foxed. RMAWTRA00tw

edition, late printing. 4to. Deep navy blue leather with gilded spines and edges. Near fine with very light rubbing to a few
corners and previous owner's embossment to front free endsheets, title page and, variously flyleaves or half titles. A
