44. The Hepburn Girls' Paper Doll Play House. Two volumes. Handmade in the late 19th century circa 1890. 100
pages. Oblong folios, 16 x 14 inches. String tied paper scrapbooks. Good but original acidic paper is crumbling at edges
where unreinforced by additions. These two unique volumes are assembled by a mother for her daughters using cheap
scrapbooks resulting in 26 single page room tableaus and 37 double-page rooms. The images are made from high
quality wall paper, clippings from magazines and simple original colored drawings. Many of the floors are made with
realistic wood-grained paper. Nearly all page surfaces are covered with such glued additions, which have effectively
stabilized the bad paper bases. The rooms are very carefully conceived and must have cost their creator hundreds of

Quarter leather with illustrated paper covered wooden boards. In good and stable condition with many losses to the
edges of the paper covering the boards which are lacking small pieces as well. There is a
small label on the front paste-down and a contemporary notation on the rear pastedown.
The title page bears an old ownership inscription. Also included is Witherspoon's
Letters on Marriage, Swift's Letter to a Newly Married Lady, Mrs. Piozzi's Letter to a
