Fortunes: Annals of Japanese Aristocratic Life in The Heian Period. 2
volume set. Stanford: Stanford University Press, 1980. 1st edition. 910
pages. 8vo. Vermillion cloth with silver lettered spines. Near fine condition
in dust jackets. RMCCTAL00rjb $200
56. MacDonald, David. The Land of the Lama (Tibet). Foreword by The
Earl of Ronaldshay. Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott Co., circa 1926. 1st edition.
283 pages. 8vo. Yellow cloth with gilt title and front cover vignette. In good
condition with moderate soiling and slightly rubbed and bumped edges.
Four small worm holes in joints have affected pages [1-6] and the index, not
affecting legibility but interrupting frontis and title page. Nonetheless, a
stable and presentable copy of a scarce title. RMACLAN00ec $350
57. Stanley, Henry M. Through the Dark Continent. 2 volume set. New York: Harper & Bros., 1878. 1st edition. 522,
566 pages. 8vo. Original green cloth with gilt titles and brown and black embossed pictorial scenes. Very good with
rubbing and bumping to extremities and corners slightly exposed. Endsheets are cracked at front hinges but they are
holding very well. Contents very clean with faint occasional foxing. Numerous illustrations and maps throughout.
Two large folding maps in the rear pocket of each volume are good, but a bit chipped at edges, and with an occasional
tiny split at folds. Bright and attractive. RSTATHR00jn $450
58. Tyson, George E. Arctic Experiences Containing Capt. George E. Tyson's Wonderful Drift on the Ice-Floe, A
