cloth with gilt title and black & silver vignette on the front
cover. Very good with lightly rubbed extremities and
cosmetic cracking to endsheets at hinges. The former
owner's name is written in ink on the flyleaf. Numerous in
column black and white illustrations, 20 full page and four
maps. A very clean, bright and tightly bound copy.

Africa. 2 volumes. New York: B. F. Buck, 1905. 1st American
edition. 359, 353 pages. Large octavo. Broad 3/4 brown leather
with marbled paper covered boards and gilded edges. Spines
are elaborately gilded. Very good with gently faded backstrips
that have small darker rectangles near bottoms of spines from
small labels. Edges are lightly rubbed and bumped. Both front
free endsheets and the rear free endsheet of volume I are
missing. Front pastedowns each have a bookplate from a
previous owner and the flyleaves are inscribed by him. Very
clean internally. Thickly illustrated. Very attractive.
