Previous owner’s name is written in ink on the front free endsheet of the second volume. Volume 9 is in near find<br />

residue, threads visible at spine and faint soiling to front and<br />
back pages. Contents otherwise very good with occasional<br />
offsetting. This supplement contains the minutes of the<br />
conference held in Salt Lake City August 28, 1852 in which the<br />
practice of plural marriage was publicly acknowledged for the<br />
first time. The 1853 Millennial Star printing is the second<br />
appearance, following the very <strong>rare</strong> Deseret News supplement<br />
published in 1852. Includes sermons by Brigham Young, Heber<br />
C Kimball, Orson Pratt and others, but the Pratt sermon herein<br />
is considered the principal discourse in defense of polygamy.<br />
